No Win, No Fee Compensation Recovery

Family Impersonation

Family impersonation scams are a distressing form of fraud that preys on people's emotions and trust in their loved ones. In these scams, the fraudsters manipulate victims into believing that they are communicating with a family member who is in urgent need of financial assistance. They exploit the victim's concern for their family member's well-being to trick them into sending money.

Scammers employ various tactics to make their impersonation seem believable. They might claim that their phone is damaged, their number has changed, or they are using a friend's phone, making it difficult for the victim to verify the caller's identity. They often gather personal information from social media or other sources to make their impersonation more convincing, referencing family details or events to establish familiarity.

Once the scammers establish contact, they create a sense of urgency, often claiming that the family member is facing a dire situation, such as a medical emergency, legal trouble, or stranded in a foreign country. They pressure the victim to send money quickly, typically through methods like bank transfer, prepaid cards, or online payment platforms.

If you or someone you know has fallen victim to a family impersonation scam, it is crucial to report the incident to your bank straight away. If you are not successful in recovering the funds with your bank, we may be able to help you recover these funds.
