Professional Impersonation

Professional impersonation scams are a type of fraud where scammers masquerade as trusted organisations or authorities to deceive individuals into making payments or divulging sensitive information. These scams often rely on emails or text messages that appear legitimate, using sophisticated techniques to mimic the branding, logos, and language of well-known institutions like HMRC, NHS, or Royal Mail.

The scammers exploit the trust and authority associated with these organisations to trick recipients into believing that urgent action is required. They create a sense of urgency, often claiming that there is a problem with the recipient's account, a pending payment, or an important package awaiting delivery. To resolve the supposed issue, victims are instructed to make a payment or provide their banking details.

Unfortunately, many people fall victim to these scams due to the convincing nature of the messages and the perceived legitimacy of the sender. The scammers employ tactics such as fear tactics, persuasion, and social engineering to manipulate individuals into taking immediate and often impulsive actions.

If you believe you have been the victim of a scam, it is important to notify your bank immediately. If you do not receive the funds back in full from your bank, we may be able to assist you with a claim.
